Good evening everyone! We are now just four days away from wrapping up the 2019-20 school year! We have learned a lot over the last quarter and will be taking what we have experienced into our planning for next year. We appreciate our parents for their continued support and our staff for flexibility, positive attitude and ability to adjust in such a short period of time. We also celebrate our students who have adjusted to a new way of learning.
This past week the USD 252 board of education set June 20 as the graduation date with July 25 set as an alternate date. The Hartford ceremony will be held at 9:00am. The location and details of the ceremony have yet to be determined as the county health department will need to review and approve our plan. We will communicate specific information when it becomes available. We are excited to have a date set and again we will do our best to provide the best graduation ceremony possible under the guidance of our county health department.
With the current health order imposed on schools, we will not have the opportunity to hold a traditional promotion ceremony for our eighth graders as we had hoped. As a result, our staff has put together a small virtual program that will air on our Facebook page at 6:30pm on May 19. The program will include as many of the elements of a traditional ceremony as possible. We encourage you to invite family and friends to access the program at that time as a way to encourage and support the eighth-grade class.
We understand that this is not ideal and that this is a big step for your child as they will be moving from junior high to high school; but we will do our best to honor them and help them in the transition! We are proud of them and it has been an honor and a pleasure watching them grow throughout their elementary years.
We continue to provides meals for students with our Grab ‘n Go curbside pickup from 11:00-12:30 each day. To sign up, please complete the survey that is available on our Facebook page. It is also sent out in an email to parents. At the end of the week, on Friday the 22nd, there will be additional meals handed out to families due to the fact that we are not providing Grab and Go services the week of Memorial Day.
This Monday we will be sending out our end of the year Continuous Learning Surveys. The information that parents, students, and our staff have provided in the previous two surveys has been instrumental in changes during this quarter and informative for changes for next year if necessary. This end of year survey will be an important way to provide the district with vital information to improve our traditional and non-traditional methods of content instruction. Please make every effort to provide your input.
As we end the year, it is time to start gathering up materials that we handed out at the beginning of our continuous learning adventure. Staff will be on hand during our grab and go time of 11:00-12:30 on Thursday and from 11:00-5:30 on Friday to collect laptops/IPads, textbooks, materials, packets, etc.
I personally want to thank all of our students, parents, and staff for their patience, resilience, and grit as they tackled these difficult past couple of months. You all are truly #Jaguar Strong.
